So its been a couple weeks since I was able to go hunting. Seems like the only way I have time is when I'm in a hotel somewhere. My problem this time was that I didn't have a car, so anywhere I went I had to walk. Fortunately there were a few caches pretty close to me, not that I had that much time to go out.
This one was on top of a parking garage in Old Town Pasadena. Which is a really nice area. Very pedestrian friendly, and lots of trendy stores and restaraunts. This was actually the first cache I found using my new Garmin 60Csx GPS. Made this very easy to find.
This was an Altoids tin. Signed the log and left my new signature item, a signed Pog. I'll post more on signature items later.

Port of Tacoma
Cache: Port of Tacoma (GCH83C, Traditional)
Difficulty: 1.5
Terrain: 1
Size: Micro
As I was walking from my car into work today (work being at the Port of Tacoma in Washington) I was looking at the observation tower and thought "that would be a great place for a cache." Sure enough I looked online and there was one there. Found it pretty easily, he gave it away in the cache post.
This one was my first bison tube. They look like this. Doesn't that look like fun to search for?

Art of Tacoma: Locomotive Monument
Cache: Art of Tacoma: Locomotive Monument (GCMMMW, Traditional)

The locomotive monument was placed in '88 to celebrate Tacoma's railroad heritage. Very unique sculpture.
This was a cool cache. Didn't find it the first time I looked for it, but after reading some of the comments on the cache I went back and tried again. Found it pretty quick. This one was actually 2 separate containers placed in close proximity.
**Spoiler** The caches actually looked like they were part of the monument. **End**
Signed the log. Didn't have anything with me for trade.

Mission #13, Torpedo Away
So this one was a bust.
Cache: Mission #13, Torpedo Away (GCHRN3, Traditional)
Difficulty: 3
Terrain: 1.5
Size: Micro
This cache was in USS Bullhead Memorial Park. The USS Bullhead was a submarine lost in WWII.
Looked for the cache on 2 different days but never did find it. Wasn't easy to look for it. There were a lot of muggles around. There were several softball fields that were busy with games. Yes I said muggles, thats the term for a non-geocacher. Apparently there's some dickheads out there that will take or move a cache if they find it.
I chalk this one up to inexperience. I will post some pics of the park soon, had a nice memorial to the sailors on board.

This was the third cache I went looking for. Never found the second one I went after. I blame the GPS. After reading some of the comments, it sounds like the cache was actually hidden in a building. My GPS was showing me outside.
This one was literally right outside my hotel at the bus stop. Took me a few minutes to find, but I did just as I was about the give up. Rather ingenious hide. Cache was an Altoids tin.

Meet Signal
So I've decided to create a new blog. This one is going to be dedicated to some of my hobbies. I've picked up a couple new ones lately that I'm pretty excited about.
The first one is photography. I have dabbled a bit here and there and have managed to get some really good shots. But now Romeo has a nice digital SLR (a Canon Rebel XTI for those of you that are interested). I want to start playing with it some more and find out how to use it. So I'll be posting photos that I like. Who knows, maybe I'll get back into digital art and post those here too.
And to my newest hobby...
Meet Signal. Signal is the mascot for geocaching. For those of you who don't know, geocaching is basically a worldwide GPS-based treasure hunt. On sites like geocaching.com there are thousands (or more likely millions) of caches listed that other people have hidden. So you use the GPS and whatever clues they give to find the cache. All of the caches have logbooks and some of them have swag to trade.
I've found a couple of caches already, and I'm going to blog about all of the caches I find or don't find. Some of the caches take you to interesting places that you may normally not go so I will also be posting interesting pics.
I figured this would be a fairly inexpensive (other than the initial cost of a good GPS) hobby I can pick up. I can do it anywhere I am, it gets me out of the hotel, and its all good fun.
